"Lil Wayne has shocked the hip-hop world with the announcement that he plans to retire after releasing ‘Tha Carter V’
It wouldn’t be a complete year of hip-hop without some big named rapper announcing his impeding ‘retirement’. We use these quotation marks because so many rappers say they’re done but they eventually comeback after two weeks, like a crack addict with a bad habit who fails at sobriety.
Lil Wayne is the latest rapper to join the rap-retirement band and he hasn’t even dropped his ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ LP yet. However, hanging up the mic maybe good for him considering he had two seizures this year, which isn’t helped by his excessive use of blunts and ‘Purple Drank’ a.k.a ‘Sizzurp’.
In an interview with MTV he talked about how: "… y'all want me around for a little bit, [but] ‘Tha Carter V’ is my last album. I've been rapping since I was 8 years old; I'm 30 now. That's a long time, and I like to do so many more things, and when I like to do something, I end up loving to do it real quick. And I love to do something, I'm fully focused on it and it only, and music sometimes is not that 'it.”
The New Orleans megastar does seem to be focused on skating these days but we’re sure we’ll see future releases of ‘The Carter VI (and VII, VIII, IX and X)’ before we see Dr. Dre drop the ‘Detox’."
